Stained Hands
The Local Project Series #1
A dance performance inside a violin maker’s workspace
23 & 24 MAY

Inspired by the body archives of an artisan and two dance artists, combined with the sounds and atmosphere of a violin-making workspace, Stained Hands is a dance and live sound performance taking place inside the intimate violin-making workshop of Camille Dollibeau in Nieuwmarkt.
Presented in a setting for small audiences, the participants are invited to immerse themselves into a sensorial atmosphere where they can feel, smell, touch, and listen to the space around them. Stained Hands is both a performance and a living document: an attempt to bridge choreographic practice with the world of craftsmanship, questioning how physical bodies and materials hold traces of memory, history, and transformation.
This is the first performance of The Local Project, a series of site-specific works exploring the body as archive through encounters with local artisans and their crafts.
Over eight days, two dance artists and one sound artist immerse themselves in the daily practice of the artisan—observing, discussing, and working alongside the tools and materials. Out of this experiene, a performance emerges that blurs the line between workshop and stage, process and presence.
Stay tuned for the upcoming performances!
